About Us
Richardson is a fifth-generation family farm located in White Marsh, Maryland, with our personal commitment to providing you with the best tasting, freshest locally grown produce possible. For more than 75 years, we've also been known as "the farm" to buy fresh poultry, and though we no longer raise chickens and turkeys, we know how to buy and select the finest poultry available anywhere. We are proud of our experience. Open year-round, Richardson Farms is the area headquarters for flowering and garden plants, and herbs, and in 2010, we opened our new Farm Market, with a fabulous selection of freshly prepared food products from our extensive deli. We also operate the largest farm stand in the Northeast Market in Baltimore—a market they've operated since 1930..
The Richardson Family
Today, there are three generations of the family involved in the day to day operations. In 1984, Barbara and Bill Richardson took the helm, with their six children. They expanded the farm by purchasing two nearby farms, and renting land from several others. The additional land allowed us to expand our operations, and preserve vital agriculture properties from the encroachment of urban sprawl.
In 2010, the new Farm Market was opened, and well received by the community. Under the supervision of a Executive Chef, the kitchen and deli prepares whole, carryout meals, or your choice of delicious food items such as rotisserie chickens, slow-smoked barbeque, cheese, deli meats, homemade soups, delicious crisp salads, ribs, pulled pork, homemade breads, pies, corn bread, fresh deli sandwiches, and fantastic desserts.
While everyone in the current three generations pitches in where needed, most everyone has a primary area of responsibility:
First Generation
Barbara oversees the White Marsh poultry department, and William Richardson is the wholesale buyer, and manages the Northeast Market
Second Generation
Diane Richardson manages the Northeast Market
Don Richardson manages the Glen Arm farm, and his wife Jill does the Accounts Payable.
John Richardson is the White Marsh Farms Manager, and his wife Christine works at the poultry counter.
Les Richardson is the White Marsh Retail Manager/CEO, and his wife Debbie provides seasonal help and marketing.
Wes Richardson is the Greenhouse Manager/Retail/Farmer and his wife Sherrie does retail sales and greenhouse.
Marty Richardson is a truck driver and is married to Jackie.
Third Generation
Mandy Richardson is the grocery manager
